Ardgour & the Corran Narrows of Loch Linnhe

From the Doorstep

A common question from guests is what's within walking distance of the chalets?

We're located in a marvellous rural location, with forest, waterfalls, hills, beaches and lochs all on our doorstep. We also have the benefit of several eateries along with a couple of activity providers just a short walk away.

Here is what's within within easy walking distance.

Inchree Waterfalls

Located just a 20 minute walk from us are the Inchree Waterfalls.

These magificent 'falls drop several hundred feet in a series of steps, fed by the River Abhainn Righ from Glen Righ.

An easy path winds up the edge of the gorge, giving close-up views of the waterfalls and panoramic views overlooking Loch Linnhe & the Ardgour mountains.

More info on Inchree Waterfalls can be got from:

By the car park area for the waterfalls, there's also a viewing & feeding area for observing red squirrels. More info from:

Located immediately behind the chalets are the upland forested areas of Glen Righ & Corrychurachan.

From the waterfall path you can join up with the Inchree Forest Walks.

A network of winding trails & logging roads covers the Glen Righ & Corrychurachan areas.

The routes are ideal for easy walking, jogging & mountain / gravel-biking, You can occupy yourself here for a short period up to a full day.

Corran Ferry

& The Narrows

The Corran Ferry is an inland ferry service that plys it's way daily across the Corran Narrows, (the narrowest part of Loch Linnhe) and is just a 5 minute walk from the chalets.

The ferry provides access to the beautiful & remote areas of Ardgour, Moidart & the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. These are are the westerly outlying areas of Lochaber, culminating in the most westerly point of mainland UK, Ardnamurchan Point.

The ferry is free to walkers & cyclists, and operates daily, back and forward from Nether Lochaber (our aside) to Ardgour, from 6.30am to 9.30pm.

The crossing takes only a few minutes and you're never waiting more than around 25 minutes for the ferry to return. Timetable here.

The Corran Narrows is a spectacular setting, with huge, open views looking up Loch Linnhe to Fort William and southward back to Inchree and beyond, towards the vast expanse of Loch Linnhe & the Beinn a'Bheither mountain massif.

The Ardgour side of the Narrows has a lovely beach for enjoying the views, with the lighthouse providing an interesting backdrop. It is particularly stunning on a nice evening, as the sun sets down the loch.

More info on the Corran Ferry.

Ardgour Ales are located on the Ardgour side of the Corran Narrows.

As well as a Craft Ale Brewery with heated beer tent, they also offer fabulous artisan pizzas every Friday night.

After getting off the Coran Ferry on the Ardgour side, you simply turn right and walk along the waterfront for a few hundred metres, (taking in the wonderful panoramic views) and you’ll see their sign, just after the church.

You just need to pre-book your pizzas via their website.

You can also take a few bottles or a firkin of their splendid Real Ales too. Fresh-baked bread & breakfast rolls also available.

Enjoy the novelty of collecting your pizza via a ferry ride!
