Rannoch Moor, The Black Mount & Bridge of Orchy Gallery

As you travel northward on the A82 to Inchree & Lochaber, you pass through and across a vast expanse of bleak beauty before reaching Glencoe.

The immense plateau of Rannoch Moor radiates out eastwards as the road reaches it's highest point at 1,150 feet, in an area known locally as 'The Black Mount,' after the mountain massif that dominates the view west.

Prior to this, the road ascends from Tyndrum and past Bridge of Orchy before climbing up onto Rannoch Moor. If time allows, a short detour down a minor road at Bridge of Orchy brings you out at the western end of Loch Tulla, amongst a beautiful area of native Caledonian Pinewoods.
